Radiography Services

Coal Mountain Animal Hospital in Cumming, GA, now offers radiography services to pets in need. If you suspect your furry friend is in pain, may have fractured or broken a bone, or is suffering from arthritis or another chronic condition, the friendly and compassionate care team at Coal Mountain Animal Hospital is well-equipped to help.

What Are Radiography Services?

This type of x-ray helps our veterinarian detect a variety of problems that your pet may be experiencing. Some common problems include:

  • Arthritis
  • Cancer
  • Bone fractures or breaks
  • Intestinal blockage
  • Bladder stones
  • Chronic kidney or liver disease
  • Tumors
  • Diseases of the spinal cord

By taking simple x-rays, or radiographs, our veterinarian can see what's going on inside your pet. We can then diagnose the problem that's causing the discomfort and begin a treatment plan to alleviate it.

Is Radiography Painful for My Pet?

This procedure is completely painless and non-invasive. It's similar to simply taking a photograph of your pet's affected area, uploading the results to a computer, and viewing them. The results can easily be shared with other specialists who may be involved in your pet's care and can be shared with you as well.

To perform x-rays on your cat, dog, or other companions, our veterinarian may first need to sedate the animal. This will help alleviate any stress they may experience during the procedure. Most pets don't require sedation, however, because they're simply positioned in a comfortable position on our x-ray table while our imaging machine captures still images. It's a painless and completely non-invasive way to see inside your pet without surgical intervention.
